Description: La Geológica Nacional esta conformada por la generalizacion de los 501 mapas de cuadrángulos a escala 1:100,000 que cubren todo el territorio. La integracion y generalizacion del mapa geologico al milon se culmino en el año 1999 priemra version a la fecha se cuenta con la actualizacion al 2000. A partir del año 2000 se inició un programa de revisión de los mapas geológicos en especial de los preparados y editados en los primeros años del proyecto de la Carta Geológica Nacional (1960 - 1970). Este trabajo iniciado desde el sur del país ha permitido hasta al momento revisar y actualizar 166 cuadrángulos geológicos de los cuales, 106 fueron efectuados a su misma escala, esto es a 1:100,000 y 52 fueron actualizados a mayor detalle, a escala 1:50,000 (4 mapas por cada cuadrángulo). Sobre la base cartográfica oficial publicada por el Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), todos los nuevos mapas vienen acompañados de memorias descriptivas en las que se reporta los cambios efectuados en el cartografiado geológico.
